What does it take to create a new Community Foundation?
Find out in this month’s lead story about Foundation SA, the first new Community Foundation to be launched in Australia since 2016. We are delighted by this development. We warmly welcome our new Foundation SA colleagues into the ACP members’ network, and want to congratulate all those who have contributed to its creation.
There are also signs of growth among our established members. The Buderim Foundation in Queensland and Melbourne’s Inner North Community Foundation recently announced significant new named funds that will increase their ability to support their local communities into the future. Both stories illustrate the golden rule of community philanthropy: at the heart of it all are relationships of trust.
Place-based giving and community engagement were strong themes at this year’s Philanthropy Australia National Conference and Workshops. The Blueprint to Grow Structure Giving launched during the conference highlights the opportunity of intergenerational transfer of wealth for the philanthropy sector, including community foundations. ACP has recently set up a Transfer of Wealth working group to explore how we can support our members as you plan structured giving or bequest campaigns in your communities. If you would like to hear more, or participate in the group, please get in touch.
