As we head into the final quarter of 2020, spring is on its way, and even in Melbourne there are tentative signs that the long lockdown may one day come to an end.

Even so, we know that things will not get easier in the coming months. Vulnerable people will need more support as the government winds back pandemic support and stimulus measures. Many businesses and not-for-profit organisations are facing difficult times ahead, as are regional communities that rely on tourism or seasonal workers in the agriculture sector. Now more than ever, community philanthropy needs to connect and support those in our communities who need help.

We also need to connect with and support each other in this rewarding – and demanding – work. Our network of community foundation practitioners is growing. ACP recently welcomed the Mumbulla Foundation as our newest member, and a record number of participants joined last week’s Zoom check-in; both signs that our members value the fellowship, practical help and mutual support across the network.

I hope to see you at one of our webinars taking place in October and November. The events section below has further details.
