Our June newsletter comes to you in Refugee Week, a time to reflect on how we support our refugee communities, especially during times of crisis. We still have a long way to go to make social inclusion a simple, daily reality for all, and the Black Lives Matter protests have highlighted this in Australia and around the world.

Fairness, equity and social inclusion are among the key values of the global community philanthropy movement.

Our colleagues at Community Foundations of Canada beautifully capture their commitment to these ideals in their mission statement: “Relentlessly pursuing a future where everyone belongs.” A compelling idea, simply expressed.

We all have a role to play, individually and through our organisations, in working towards that simple though ambitious goal.

‘Celebrating the Year of Welcome’ is the theme for Refugee Week 2020. Let’s make it a lifetime of welcome.

Warmly,

Gerlinde Scholz
Executive Officer
