Recently, our friends and colleagues in Western Australia have had to deal with a COVID outbreak and lockdown, fires, and floods. We hope you are all keeping safe and well!
Responding quickly to such emergencies as they arise is one of the strengths of a local community foundation, as the Fremantle Foundation is demonstrating with its prompt establishment of a Relief and Recovery Fund for communities affected by the Wooroloo fires.
Community foundations also contribute to building community capacity and resilience over the longer term. “Bass Coast Counts” is a great example of a data-driven approach to this kind of community leadership.
