Chair of ACP, Ben Rodgers, reflects on how community foundations set up a decade ago are helping fire-affected communities today. This is an important reminder of the role we have to play at the local level in the coming years of bushfire recovery.
“After the 2009 Black Saturday, the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund established five community foundations in Victoria’s northeast.”
Later this year, at the ACP Forum 2020, we will lift our gaze and reflect on our community philanthropy practice in a global context, complementing the strong regional and local focus of the 2019 Forum in Goolwa.
We will meet in Sydney on 8 September for a one-day Forum that will be followed by the Philanthropy Australia National Conference, where ACP will also have a presence and all ACP members are warmly encouraged to attend. The theme of this year’s Philanthropy Australia conference is ‘What does the future need from us?’
